Six Sentence Sunday

Hello and welcome to another Six Sentence Sunday! I'd like to thank everyone who came by last week and left a comment. You were all very encouraging and it was greatly appreciated!

I had the hardest time deciding on what to pick for this week. Choosing only six sentences is so hard! Does it take anybody else hours to do this?! I changed my mind three times just since I started writing this blog. lol

So, I decided to continue with the same scene as last week. BUT...I skipped to the end of the scene. As I'm sure some of you have guessed, this scene leads into a love scene, and, so as not to offend anyone, I've skipped the dirty deed. This is part of the "aftermath."
When his breathing returned to normal, he lifted his head and brushed a lingering kiss across her mouth, so tender tears welled in her eyes. There in the deep blue pools she saw a glimpse of the man she’d fallen in love with, in the soft vulnerability glimmering back at her. As if he laid himself bare before her and dared her to see it. It stunned her, seeped inside. She hadn’t seen this side of him in a very long time. Not since their honeymoon, and heaven help her, but her heart took it and refused to let it go.
If you'd like to participate in SSS or just want to read more fabulous snippets, be sure to go here. Thanks again for stopping by. See you next week!

  2. Aww, very sweet emotional scene. (And I don't think anyone would be too offended by a love scene. Have you seen some of the other posts, LOL?)

  3. Very nice, Joanne. Way to pull the heart strings.

I tried my hand at SSS for the first time this week. Screwed it up. LOL The link gets you to my website, but not quite to the post. So, back to the drawing board. (I may be back to pick your brain, if you don't mind)

  4. hehe. Yeah. Some of the other posts make ME blush. But I have come across the odd person who says they wouldn't have read it if I had given too much detail. That may have changed since. Maybe I'm just not brave enough to post one yet. lol Thanks, Linda!

  5. Thanks, Mac! And LOL. Don't you hate when you do stuff you can't take back? Lol Clicking on the link, though, all I have to do is scroll down and I can see the link in the list. So, not too bad. And pick away!

  7. *sigh* SOOO romantic. I loved this! Great six, Joanne. And, yep, I ALWAYS have a tough time figuring out which six to use. I always worry that I've chosen something totally boring, but people are too nice to tell me, LOL!!

  8. K.E.--LOL I tend to think the exact same thing. I tend to like the more emotional stuff, like this one, and I always wonder, "geez, is everybody going to think this is boring?" thanks for the encouragement!

  10. How enjoyable. Sometimes, characters don't want to reveal their "other" side. She's knocking down some barriers. Good six!

  11. Oh, Joanne! What a touching scene. Forget the sexy bits. I'm GLAD you shared this with us today. Lovely writing for a sweet 6.

  12. Thanks, Wildcat. You hit the nail on the head. Becca's a tough cookie, and she's determined not to let him in. So this is a weak moment for her, where the walls crumble.

  13. Thanks, Silver. I have to admit this is one of my favorite scenes.

  14. Beautiful 6! A good sex scene should always lead to some kind of revelation, or higher emotional stakes, and you've done an awesome job here of capturing her emotional state and realization. Lovely last line too...

  15. I agree. Every scene should somehow advance the story. Thanks, Angela!

  16. What a romantic, touching six! You might have struggled on which six to pick (I do the same thing!) but you scored with a winner. I loved the tenderness of this!

  18. Lovely, tender scene. Love that she's willing to put up with the hard times in hopes he'll return to his old self.

  19. Wonderful job, I enjoyed it! Romantic, yet contemporary. It's hard to pull that off, but you did it. Anyways, it takes me hours to decide which six to take, and then the editing maniac in me takes over and starts to rewrite everything. Thinking about it, Sunday Six is a job for a whole weekend.

  20. Thanks, Lorraine. Good to hear I'm not the only one who takes forever doing these! Takes me hours!

  21. DasNuk--LOL me too. I do mine mid-week, on Tuesday or Wednesday, so I don't forget. And I do the same thing. takes me hours to find the sample I want and then my internal editor goes crazy too. Good thing with this one is that I've already subbed it to my editor, so I can force myself not to change anything. I still hate leaving it, though.
